I have for sale an 1880 presidential campaign token for Winfield Scott Hancock. The token is white metal, it is one inch in diameter and in a high grade uncirculated condition with a proof like reverse, but it is holed. Hancock, 02/14/1824 - 02/09/1886, was a United States Army officer and the Democratic nominee for president of the United States in 1880. His army career lasted over 40 years and included service in the Mexican-American war, he was a Union General in the civil war, he took part in the military reconstruction of the south and was involved with the army presence in the western frontier. He was defeated for president by Republican James A. Garfield. His Vice President was William Hayden English, 08/27/1822 - 02/07/1896, of Indiana. The obverse shows the military bust of Hancock and at the rim it reads MAJ. GEN. W.S. HANCOCK. The reverse reads VICTORY at the top rim and 1880 at the bottom rim and there are six stars on each side of the rim. In the center it shows a rooster with a small clover leaf above (his corps insignia) Please see over 850 more collectibles for sale in my EBAY STORE at TE Collectables. (18,921 DRA)
