Here's a wonderful piece of history suitable for framing. It's a nice size, 8.75" x 15" and is a specimen ballot from the 1904 presidential campaign out of McLean County, Illinois, with all the politically-incorrect individuals from that state who wished to be their party's presidential electors. It shows the tops of the tickets: republicans Theodore Roosevelt and Charles Fairbanks; democrats Alton Parker and Henry Davis; Prohibition Party nominees Silas Swallow and George Carroll and, most interestingly, the People's Party ticket of Thomas Watson and Thomas Tibbles. Curiously, this has left off the growing-in-popularity Socialist candidate, Eugene Debs and his three-time running-mate, Benjamin Hanford, and we don't know why. We KNOW there were socialists living in and around Bloomington back in 1904 - hell, there are tons of them in Illinois, right now - some running the State. But why this ballot chose to show the limited-interest People's Party over the more widely-of-interest Socialists is beyond us. We said this was curious. This is in nice condition but please enlarge our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with it. It obviously has some edge and overall wear, but it will be 116 years old at this November's presidential election. You'd show wear at that age, too! Remember, this stuff's called ephemera, folks, since it was made to be used and then discarded. So we're just lucky to have things like this in any condition to add to our collections. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence. We'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases. Shipping on this will be $5.50 first class with tracking.
