We've never even heard of these guys before and that may be because they espoused some pretty racist views at the time immediately following the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education Supreme Court ruling. T. Coleman Andrews and Thomas Werdel were running for president and Veep as Independent Party candidates, but they were basically States Rights democrats from the segregationist south along the lines of Strom Thurmond and his 1948 campaign. The cover of this 3 5/8" x 8.25" paper pamphlet has a great cartoon depicting republican Dwight Eisenhower and democrat Adlai Stevenson as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Those characters from old English nursery rhymes were most famously noted in the early 1720's satiric poem by John Byrom about composers Handel from Germany and Bononcini from Italy competing in England. Which was way before Lewis Carroll used them. Their use here on this item is concurrent with the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement and the advent of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. This is in nice shape so please look at our images to judge condition yourself so that you can be happy with your purchase.
