Republican's Alfred Landon and Frank Knox had the unenviable task of running for president and veep in 1936 against Franklin D. Roosevelt in his first re-election bid. And they got their clocks cleaned, receiving only eight electoral votes, none of which were from the sitting Governor of Kansas's home state! That's why many Landon pins have a sunflower motif, if you didn't know, since that is their state flower. Many styles of their buttons seem to come in a bunch of different varieties and sizes that are fun to collect. The elephant pins with the GOP mascot may be pointed to the left (OMG) or the right, printed in light or dark brown. Some have felt sunflower backings. Most Landon pins have some kind of sunflower motif. Here are four examples ranging from a 7/8" litho pin on a 1.5" felt sunflower, to a likewise 5/8" pin on a 7/8" felt sunflower. Plus, there's a 3/4" litho with Landon and Knox's names on it and a dinky, little 1/2" pachyderm litho. They are in nice condition but please look at our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase.
